It's just incredible. The Biden administration is such a joke -- letting in millions of illegal immigrants and criminals while kicking out good people who are living their best life.

I have some good friends from Germany that I have argued with over this homeschooling issue. It's unfortunate that many Germans think that banning homeschooling is a good idea.

Requiring people to go suffer through Public School indoctrination is just ridiculous.

They are so very much more than when I was a kid in a suburban midwest high school.

We had a sit down protest for just one day, and they caved on everything. We went from mystery meat and canned vegetables and tomato surprise to equally nutritionally devoid but much tastier tacos and burgers and pizza, etc.

Academically, we went from English I,II,III, and IV to TV as Mass Media, Creative Writing, Technical Writing, Public Speaking, Major American Authors, etc etc across the board everything transformed from the original 1234 to more specific and useful classes in math and science and history and useful additions like the masculine answer to Home Ec, Bachelor Living.

We also had a heavily wooded No Man's Land with a creek running beside it where students who just weren't in the mood could cut class and drink or smoke or drug with little chance of repercussion.

Nowadays, though the No Man's Land still is by the creek where it always was, it's been so long, so many decades since a student dared venture back there that it is completely overgrown and the creekside utterly inaccessible.

It serves as a physical expression of the regimentation that went into Covid Overdrive these past few years.

And the course line up is a lot more indoctrination oriented, though they surely were getting some good licks in even forty years ago, especially in Social Studies and Sociology.

There were competing voices, though. One English teacher had me reading Atlas Shrugged.

Now they would probably call the FBI to report White Supremacy if suburban teens stepped out of line...

A little secret: Nations do have a National Character.

This sort of thing is very popular and comfortable in the context of German Culture.

People are not the same all over. That's nonsense. Everyone eats, drinks, breathes, sleeps and eliminates. That's about it for universal commonalities.

People aren't even the same in Oklahoma as in NYC, much less are people in Japan the sane as people in Arabia.

The only people who rant about diversity are the ones trying to stamp it out using a people sized cookie cutter.

A significant difference between German and American attitudes on average is the former has a more authoritarian and top-down approach while the latter is rooted in a bottoms-up system reflected in English Common Law. if they are here legally (I suppose on green card) how can they be expelled? or do they not have a green card? marrying an American citizen does not make you a citizen. You still have to wait 3 years and then go through the whole process of citizenship application. Costly, for a large family. I cost me as a single person almost 3000 $ (this includes the 2 times I had to spend the night because I had to be there at 8 in the morning)

But he still has to do ridiculous stuff like fly home to Germany for a weekend and then fly back and drive 40 miles to be at work Monday AM.

Stupid as it sounds and is, he has to do it.

And according to his lawyer, in spite of being steadily employed with the same firm all these years, it's not a slam dunk that he would get citizenship.

If I sought Asylum, if they didn't laugh me out if the office for being White and American, I would get out up in a luxury hotel and eat catered meals and be free to wander the country and cause mayhem at will.

A couple months ago, an Irish youth, aged 17, took his autistic little brother to a matinee at the local cinema.

They were harassed by 20 military aged Bulgarians throughout the film .

After the film, outside the cinema, both lads were beaten savagely by the Bulgarians.

Though the whole thing was caught on multiple cameras, and the population of Armagh City, County Armagh, Northern Ireland where it happened is 32K, as yet the authorities have no clue as to which luxury hotel they are housed in.

you can not stay forever undocumented, I know European countries send people back after a certain time - I met a man who worked for the local town, his wife had a job and his 3 kids went to school - but he was gvien 3 months to get back (to former Yugoslavia).

I am not sure about the terms here in the US. Unfortunately once living here, people think they can just stay indefinitely. this family in Belgium thought so too and then was confronted with too short a term to get citizenship. Getting documented is a must. Employment is not a reason to get a green card and has not been for many years. I tried that too - and my husband was a citizen - no good. Immigrating is a delicate process !

There is no shortage of workers from Continental or Eastern Europe in academia or the tech industry, and some (or many) will eventually settle in the U.S. long-term. Germany: Students Arm Themselves Against Muslim Migrants | Frontpage Mag

They are, instead, economic migrants, eager to batten on the benefits that the generous welfare states of western Europe provide. These include free or greatly-subsidized housing, free medical care, free education (including vocational training), unemployment benefits (even without a work history in Europe), family allowances, and more. But for some Muslims, even that largesse is not enough. They want more, and they supplement their welfare benefits with the proceeds from street robberies and house burglaries. Muslims in France, though only 10% of the population, make up 50-60% of the prisoners. In the UK., Muslims are 4% of the population, but 25% of prisoners. In Germany, Muslims are 5% of the population, and 23% of prisoners. Muslims committing crimes of property often use violence to intimidate their victims. In one city in Germany, having lost faith in the police’s ability to adequately protect the population from this Muslim crime wave, older students, and parents, too, have organized patrols and self-defense groups. More on this development can be found here: “Germany: Students arm themselves in city of Halle as violent robberies soar, parents describe ‘broken police force,’” by John Cody, Remix News, September 22, 2023:

Thank you for commenting. If the German government, under E.U. policy, or the U.S. government did not permit entry or have national border security, then those migrants wouldn’t be entering in the first place. Which U.S. or E.U. organization(s) has given a message of “free or greatly-subsidized housing, free medical care, free education (including vocational training), unemployment benefits (even without a work history in Europe), family allowances, and more” to migrants entering a nation unlawfully? If a solid immigration system existed, then any ‘migrant’ would likely come from a middle-class or middle-upper class background, or have an international studentship if poor or lower-middle class. It is very frustrating to learn that there are limited or no restrictions on newcomers, some (or many?) of whom exhibit thuggish leanings.

That key word is "willing." For many private firms, those "illegal migrants and asylum seekers" represent cheap labor. But I wonder how many U.S.-born millennials and Gen Z-ers would be "willing" to take on blue-collar work. If the welfare system was drastically reduced or limited to, say, the physically disabled and wounded veterans, then most able-bodied youngsters would be compelled to seek work.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, (BLUE COUNTY) In a heartbreaking plea, the Romeike family, a Christian family who sought asylum in the US 15 years ago to escape persecution for homeschooling their children in Germany, is now desperately asking for the Biden administration's intervention to prevent deportation, sparking outrage and a debate over education and parental rights.

Uwe and Hannelore Romeike fled Germany with their five children in 2008 after they were threatened with prosecution for homeschooling their children, a practice that is rarely allowed in Germany.

Political asylum is available to people already in the United States who fear returning to their home country due to actual persecution or who have a well-founded fear of actual persecution because of their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion. Homeschoolers certainly have a “well-founded fear” of persecution in Germany.

It's tragic what's happening to this family and others..

Apparently I didn't copy over the full post I'd made elsewhere, as this was also meant to be included. Story is from 2019 but goes back to 2013. This was of course pre-covid and thus relating to the 2nd link regarding covid changing the parameters, and of their own making.

Another family in Germany who faced the same issue years earlier, that werent' able to escape, as their children had been taken, and even though only briefly didn't have custody to do so. It of course also mentions the Law that they never changed and used to their advantage after the war.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on Thursday ruled against a German family from the state of Hesse that has been fighting for years for the right to homeschool their children, a practice that is illegal in Germany.

The Wunderlich family had argued that the government had violated Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which guarantees protection for the privacy of home and family life, by forcing their four children to attend a local school.

The court found, however, that the family had not provided sufficient evidence that the children were properly educated and socialized, and that a government removing children from their parents to ensure they receive an education did not violate Article 8.

In their ruling, the ECHR also noted the troubling statement by father Dirk Wunderlich that implied children were the "property" of their parents.

"The authorities...have a duty to protect children," due to "reasonably held concerns," the court noted.

"August 29, 2013, as 40 officials stood before our door, was the most horrible day for us," Dirk Wunderlich told DW. He said the authorities were contacted by neighbors who claimed he had said he would rather kill his children than send them to school.

"What nonsense," said Wunderlich, calling the accusations "invented." Their children were returned to them after three weeks.

Wunderlich and his wife, Petra, are both gardeners, who themselves graduated from a normal high school, which they attended "not reluctantly," Dirk said.

But school has changed since his day, Wunderlich has argued. He believes that now, teachers do less in the classroom and expect children to do most of their work and learning as homework anyway. He further emphasized that he and his wife taught their children with the assistance of a Christian distance-learning school, and had offered to have the relevant authorities check up on them at any time.

He has disputed the allegations that his offspring were not properly socialized, highlighting their participation in various clubs and organizations. He added that he believed the family circle to be the best environment for children.

Dirk Wunderlich said they had considered moving to an EU country in which homeschooling is legal, such as France, but he said they were not allowed to move as they didn't have full custody of the children at that time.

Obligatory schooling has been part of German law continuously since 1919, and is enshrined in several state constitutions as well.

"A general exemption from compulsory education for pedagogical or religious reasons is not allowed," the Conference of German Culture Ministers (KMK) told DW. The rare exceptions are for severe illnesses, the children of diplomats, and in rare instances for working children, such as child actors.

The KMK said it believes there are between 500 and 1,000 cases of parents homeschooling their children across Germany.

While private schooling exists in Germany, it is far less common than in many other countries; German private schools also broadly follow the curriculum of the state where they're based.
