I think instead of public funding, anyone who is homeschooling should get reduced property taxes (which fund the public schools in most states). In one of the districts (urban/inner city) where I homeschooled they boasted about spending $13k per student, per year, it was/is a D rated school. If I ever spent $13K in a school year, it would have been extravagant. We did do a bit of traveling, but $13K in my mind was excessive.

I agree the Cabinet level Department of Education should be disbanded. Should have been a long time ago.

It's important to note that the colleges that have resisted globohomo indoctrination the best are those who do not accept federal funding. i.e. see the list: https://deanclancy.com/a-list-of-colleges-that-dont-take-federal-money/ Likely the same principle would apply for homeschooling/private school...

The Dept. of Education is as worthless as the Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Transportation, etc., and all should

be disbanded.

The problem with schools in this country that get federal money is you have to follow the rules they give you. Schools should not get federal money! Which is why Hillsdale College doesn't take any. Grove City College didn't either but took PELL grants and the government tried to make them follow their rules. Grove City college stopped taking the grants.

If the money comes from the government, eventually their will be strings. Maybe at a state or local level? We pay taxes that support the school in our area. If they start screwing up, parents ought to be able to withdraw and get their money back.

Every six months, a government gender specialist will visit the home to confirm that student gender preferences are being observed.

Schooling is not the same as education. Our taxes pay for people to be schooled instead of educated.

We absolutely need to fund home schooling. Over a billion dollars a year is given to public schools.

Public schools have ruined this land. The demented adults of the last two generations, at least, are the product of public school. Where are children being attacked mentally, right now? Public school. 90% of the homeless, criminals, prisoners, mentally ill, and perverts are the product of public schools. Racism is taught in public schools. Where else do children learn to hate Whitey, or hate other races? The current dysfunctional society is a byproduct of public schools, clergy, and media. I call them the trifecta of evil. They just gave a half a trillion to foreigners, the most corrupt in Eastern Europe, in a land we, as Americans, have no connection to. The least we could do is attempt to fund homeschooling.

Get rid of federal DOE, & allow State DOE's to make decisions, as each State should have a better sense of each specific counties (rural, suburban, or urban/city) kid's needs.

I knew by your piece's subtitle, that the fed's money would arrive with a hook.

Good Points Cameron !

"IF" We are to be Taxed for education, which is probably a bad idea, but IF taxed We need the Freedom of ESA's to determine our children's education Choices.

Excellent Article for everyone to push to their State Legislators.

Interesting. I’m honestly not sure exactly what to think on this topic. I do think giving parents options for pulling their kids from Woke-saturated public schools is a good idea in theory, but I hear you re government and public education and the problems with entanglement therein. It also seems that many private schools have a Woke curriculum problem as well. Thanks for astutely writing on this topic. Well done as always.

One less federal agency/DC jobs program is a good thing by any measure. Lao Tsu one said "The government is like a dragon, the more money you feed it, the bigger it gets. It will never get smaller."

From talking to my homeschooling friend it sounds like most states offer some type of financial aid for homeschooling, not sure if state or federal level, or both . I think when you homeschool you have a lot more control on what is presented regardless of what the institution wants, but all mine are public schooled, and although I cannot agree on some Democratic/woke influences being passed around the schools in recent years, I must say that on the whole it is a better education then what I can ever provide at home, just from the social aspect alone…

Keyword: federal intrusion. --- Warning, Dear people, see this for what it is. A Trojan Horse will come in, coercing you to surrender your parental authority and following with mandating a curriculum to capture your children's minds. This will all happen without you even noticing, and when and if you do, it will be too late. Don't let this happen. Say no to this intrusion.

Sequentially, the priority should be to defund and disband the Federal DoE. Until that happens, the per student funds should be made available to wherever that student is attending (be that public, private, hybrid or home). To make this work, Congress should pass legislation barring the onerous use of mandates in order to receive those funds.

But I still prefer plan A, elimination of the DoE.

I did get a sarcastic chuckle when you wrote, "...members of Congress who care about upholding and abiding by the Constitution might want to think carefully about ....", brought tears to my eyes from laughing at the absurdity that there are more than a half dozen that fall into that category.

"In that case, they could be required to deliver mandated lessons or curricula reflecting evolving sociopolitical beliefs that they adamantly reject."

Absolutely! Which is why lots of homeschoolers oppose this, which isn't to say that the plandemic didn't rip the homeschool group apart on predictably political beliefs on the Flu d'état, so it might be tough to know what the jabbermaskers might want.
