Very well Written, so much so, it's painful at parts.

So...forgetting or setting aside how the R&D's might vote, or how the courts may adjudicate, let me ask you this...

Are you saying that Marriage is a Sacred Act/Bond/Commitment, that The State has no business dealing with in any form or fashion ?

I believe long ago, Marriage was always encouraged by The State, probably for its Natural stabilizing effects, & for processing Social Security & other benefits. I realize this issue is multifactorial, so an easy answer is difficult.

I believe proponents of same sex marriage brought up issues of SS death benefits to living "spouse" as well as health decisions at hospital concerning treatments allowed, etc.

It seems that The State has grown too large for our britches.

Thank you for your feedback! Marriage and family formation is a mentality. And right now, that mentality is on the decline. I believe marriage is a sacred religious bond, and the state should have minimum business meddling. Further, I believe elected officials have a duty to uphold Christian marriage values without defining marriage at a federal level. Often, changing attitudes are the driving force behind changes in social policies.

The state will continually seek to grow larger because it wants to be our god...

Totally Agree !!

Top shelf essay. To add to the mix, this helps the population reduction program by decoupling (no pun intended) sexual acts from procreation. Also, Congress passes this while we watch our economy fall off the cliff. Dystopian.

Thank you for commenting, it means a lot. I hear you. Marriage and family formation is a mentality, and America needs to “make progress” in shifting that mentality where more and more couples intrinsically choose to settle down.

Well done. If only the Congress cared as much about the national defense issue of securing our Southern border, (a definite, specific duty spelled out in the Constitution), as it does in unconstitutionally meddling in Americans lives.

Thank you for commenting. I agree. I do wonder if there is lobbying pressure to keep our Southern border open. Democrats might believe that an open border policy secures a permanent electoral majority for the future. In contrast, many Republicans might worry about a secure border because Big Business relies heavily on illegal immigrant labor. Just a thought.

Dear Cameron,

Dr. Joseph Sansone has joined The (paying-portion) of The Substack Community. FINALLY !

As you probably already know, fellow Writer Jon Rappoport gave away for free his Work for 20+ years. Then joined Substack. For many years of Reading his Work, I couldn't understand why he gave it away, perhaps a simple generous heart who felt the emergency of the day & didn't want "money" to get in the way.

Nevertheless, I wish you consider & see YourSelf As A Valued Contributor. $50 bucks/year is a drop in the ocean. And we all know the time, energy, & personal costs you have to incur to produce & run your personal Substack.

You can still keep your cup of coffee brewing, but if you move to a yearly subscription investment, I'll happily sign up.

It is not how often or how much one writes, but the depth of content.

Having read Your Previous Works, I can easily say, you've reached that high water mark !

Best Wishes.

That is very kind of you, Paul. I might consider offering paid subscriptions in the future.

Ok.

But at your own time.

Peace Brother.

Yes, like the truth itself this is painful. After getting a new education in "Civics" in these past years I must ask if the people who believe they are in charge could possibly understand what a "marriage" between two human beings is? Just like with many things that are true they wouldn't recognize it if it hit them upside the head. "14 days to flatten curve." Don't know about you but I have some great bridges to sell. Mint condition. Check FaceBook.

Honestly...come on. Everyone of you know that marriage is spiritual. Especially, proving fidelity as an example. So what does man made paper have to do with it? Just a thought.

Thank you for your feedback. I can appreciate that couples might want their “marriage” union to be formally recognized by the state. I believe that marriage is a spiritual, sacred bond between a man and a woman. Educators and influencers should always have to explicitly explain and remind the youth of every generation about a set of core values, and why we follow those values.

I have never been married--(in my fifth decade of life)--so I really don’t know what any legal benefits are, beyond what Paul said above (social security and healthcare decisions). Are there other benefits? Do married couples have tax breaks, for example?

Expand full comment

Thank you for commenting! The origin of tax breaks for married couples dates back to when many women were housewives to take care of the kids while their husbands earned an income to support the family. As a result, married couples filing their taxes jointly might fall into a lower tax bracket than if they were filing taxes separately.

Government shouldn’t be involved in a lot of things.
