This is exactly how it's worked since I've began watching back in the 70's. They hide nefarious plans within the details of the bill and sell it as one thing until years (not as long anymore) later we find out it's real purpose. Never does it seem they fix any of this legislation, unless someone with enough money and/or knowledge to challenge in the courts and have it deemed unconstitutional and placed into negative law (if that's what it's still called), where they don't strike down the whole bill just the portions deemed unconstitutional.

Of course, E-Verify would not be needed if the government regulators did their job of controlling the border.

The fix for the failure of government is always: More government.
